Grapeseed Oil

Grapeseed oil is one of the only foods that not only lowers LDL, the bad cholesterol, but raises HDL, the good cholesterol. Consumed regularly, it may add years to the life of someone you care about...a true gift of "time in a bottle." It's not only great for the heart, it tastes great too, and its light neutral flavor goes with everything and can be used everywhere cooking oil is used. Watkins Grapeseed Oil is available in three gourmet flavors; Original, Garlic & Parsley, and Citrus & Cilantro. You'll also find it in our Garlic, Onion, and Chipotle Liquid Spices. Check out the recipe section at http://www.WatkinsOnline.com/home, and make 2007 your time for an oil change. Brenda Koth, MS, RD

Cinnamon History

Cinnamon was so sacred in the ancient world that it was used in religious rituals; Emperor Nero burned Rome’s entire year’s supply of it as incense at his wife’s funeral. Our high-oil Korintje cassia (about twice as flavorful as Ceylon cinnamon) is the best quality cinnamon available anywhere. (170 g/6 oz.)

Lemon Cake Roll

Ingredients
5 egg whites, room temperature
3/4 cup/180 mL sugar
1-1/2 tsp/7.5 mL water
1-1/2 tsp/7.5 mL Lemon Extract Ref ID# 358211
1/8 tsp/0.6 mL salt
Powdered sugar
3/4 cup/180 mL sifted cake flour
3 tbsp/45 mL Lemon Dessert Mix Ref ID# 358211
1/4 cup/60 mL sugar
1/3 cup/80 mL orange juice
3/4 cup/180 mL water
Cooking Spray

Cooking Directions
Coat a 15 x 10 x 1-inch/38 x 25 x 2.5-cm jelly roll pan with Watkins Cooking Spray and line with wax paper. Coat wax paper with cooking spray; set aside. Preheat oven to 350ºF/180ºC. Beat egg whites at high speed of an electric mixer until foamy. Add sugar 1 tbsp/15 mL at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat until stiff peaks form and all sugar is dissolved. Add water, lemon extract, and salt; beat well. With rubber spatula, fold in flour. Spread batter evenly in prepared pan. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Sift powdered sugar in a large rectangle on a clean kitchen towel. When cake is done, immediately loosen from pan and turn out onto sugared towel. Peel off wax paper. Starting at narrow end, roll up cake and towel together. Let cool on wire rack, seam side down.

While cake is cooling, prepare filling by combining dessert mix, sugar, orange juice, and water in small saucepan. Cook over medium heat until mixture begins to boil and thicken. Let cook 1 minute. Remove from heat and cover surface with plastic wrap. Let cool to room temperature. When both cake and filling are cool, unroll cake and spoon filling evenly over top, staying about 1-inch/2.5-cm from edges. Re-roll cake (this time without towel) and place seam side down on serving plate. Keep refrigerated.

Makes 8 servings.

Welcome to Cooking 101

My name is Bianca and I am an Independent Manager for Watkins Products. I’ve been a huge Watkins Products fan for 20 years! I used to purchase the products at our local county fair every year until one year I really needed to get some items right away. This is what led me to joining Watkins as an independent distributor!
I live in Ohio with my two girls, ages 12 & 10, and have been married for 21 years to a very supportive man. When I got into Watkins, I originally wanted to take advantage of the personal discount. Watkins knows that different people have different needs. Watkins does not have minimum quota requirements making it a very pressure free organization allowing individuals to use and promote Watkins as they choose and at their own pace. Once I got into Watkins, my kids jumped right in helping me out with the business and of course loved ‘testing’ all the products!
As I learned more about the company and the products, I realized that my entire family could benefit from this opportunity. Not only was I saving money on products that we already use in the home, I was getting higher quality products for much less. I also realized that I could create an income and be a helping hand in supporting the family by sharing this wonderful opportunity with others.
One question that was asked of me when I started my business is what are your 'dreams?' As a mother, I really didn't have dreams other than to care for and want the best for my children. Today, I can honestly say that I now have dreams and I see how achievable they are with a Watkins Home business. I know now that my new found dream to have a cabin in the Smoky Mountains is VERY achievable and WILL happen!
Watkins not only has incredible products, but a fantastic, and very flexible business program for those that want to work from home! Watkins has allowed me to have a successful home business for the past two years! Not only am I enjoying the products I already love, but I am able to share them with our local community and family! My two girls LOVE the Watkins Products too! They enjoy helping me with the business.
